Hope Scholarship for the Hopeful
Hope Scholarship Program is a global project that connects high school graduates from displaced war zones (Gaza, Sudan, and Congo) to higher education opportunities at colleges around the Middle East and Africa, as well as educational platforms around the world.
The HOPE Scholarship is open to Georgia residents who have demonstrated academic achievement. The scholarship helps students pay a portion of their tuition at a HOPE Scholarship-eligible college or university.
Eligibility of the Hope Scholarship
Must be a United States citizen or an eligible non-citizen.
Must meet Georgia residence requirements set by the institution or university.
You must be enrolled as a degree-seeking student at an accredited Georgia institution or university.
Must meet federal Selective Service registration criteria (males born on or after January 1, 1960).
Must comply with the Eligible Postsecondary Institution’s Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) policy.
Must be in good standing with all student loans and other financial aid programs.
Must comply with Georgia’s Drug-Free Postsecondary Education Act of 1990.
Must not have gone beyond the maximum reward restrictions for any HOPE program.
You must not be in arrears on any federal or state of Georgia student loan, grant, or scholarship.
You must not owe a refund for a state of Georgia scholarship or grant program.
A student with a documented medical disability, as certified by a licensed physician, who is only able to enroll part-time due to the disability, may apply to TSAC for an extension of the five-year limit, as long as the student continues to meet all applicable academic and nonacademic requirements for the HOPE Scholarship and ten years have not passed since the student’s initial enrollment at a postsecondary institution.
How to Apply
Report the incident to your child’s school. You are not required to submit proof of the incident.
The school district must provide information on the Hope Scholarship and offer to transfer your child to another public school with available space. You can also select an eligible private school by applying for a Family Empowerment or Florida Tax Credit Scholarship. Click here for a list of private schools in your area.
If you choose a private school, check sure it has space and accepts kids.
Contact Step Up for Students. The scholarship-granting agency will assist you with the application procedure.
Transfer to another public school – The parent might enroll his or her child in another public school that has space. To transfer to another public school, please contact the school district administration.
Transfer to an approved private school: A parent may enroll his or her child in an approved private school. The parent must notify the district of his or her intention to withdraw the student from public school and enroll in private school. Scholarship Reward
Students who meet all eligibility requirements and are enrolled in an eligible public college or university are awarded a HOPE Scholarship, which can be applied to standard undergraduate tuition up to a maximum of 15 hours for the number of hours enrolled, whether full-time or part-time.
Students who complete all eligibility conditions and are enrolled in a qualified private college or university are awarded a HOPE Scholarship, which can be applied toward standard undergraduate tuition up to a maximum of 12 hours, based on half-time or full-time enrollment status.
