Unlock Posse Scholarship Secrets Now

The Posse scholarship is among the most coveted rewards for Lewis & Clark students. We are delighted to welcome Posse Scholars, and we are devoted to your success.

Lewis & Clark’s Posse Scholar program operates on a shared partnership philosophy, with participants contributing to the award’s success. This implies that Posse students (and their families, to the extent possible), as well as Lewis & Clark, all help to cover the cost of attendance. The Posse Foundation provides resources to help you succeed as a student at Lewis & Clark.

The Posse Foundation

The Posse Foundation, established in 1989, is a nonprofit organization that has awarded over $2 billion in scholarships to over 12,000 Scholars. The Foundation builds a cohort of diverse and talented individuals capable of accelerating positive change.

Students who earn Posse Foundation Scholarships have a 90% graduation rate. On university, most Posse Scholars serve as officers in student clubs and student government. Posse Scholars come from over 20 cities across the US and Puerto Rico, and more than half of them are first-generation college students.

The Posse Foundation has garnered numerous accolades for its remarkable achievements to increasing college access for kids from various backgrounds. In fact, in 2010, President Barack Obama gave a portion of his Nobel Prize to Posse. Deborah Bial, the president and founder of Posse, was awarded a MacArthur “Genius” Fellowship in 2007 for her efforts to reframe the college admissions process.

As you can see, the Posse Foundation plays an important role in innovating and enhancing college access. But what exactly is a Posse Foundation Scholarship, and what does it signify for students at Posse Scholarship schools?

Eligibility of the Posse Scholarship

  • High school seniors must be nominated by either their school or a community-based organization.
  • Students must be in the first semester of their senior year when nominated.
  • Show leadership in their school, community, or family.
  • Demonstrate intellectual potential and dedication to school.
  • Meet application deadlines set by their local Posse office.
  • This grant is open to students of all backgrounds and is not based on race or financial need.

How to Apply

Students do not apply for Posse on their own. Rather, they are nominated by their high school or a local organization. Students may be nominated as either arts or STEM scholars. High school seniors must be in their first term to ensure that they have enough time to complete all of the nomination requirements.

The Posse program is unique in that veterans without bachelor’s degrees can also be nominated. Veterans who are awarded this scholarship will go through a somewhat different process than high school grads, but they will enjoy many of the same perks.

Scholarship Reward

The Posse grant is a full-tuition grant offered to high school students who demonstrate significant leadership potential, academic promise, and a desire to make a difference in their communities.

After you graduate, the Posse Program continues. Even after students graduate, the Posse Foundation remains committed to their success. For this reason, they collaborate with prestigious graduate and professional institutions as well as top businesses and associations in the sector. The Career Program is divided into five sections:

  • Jobs for Interns
  • Workshops for career development
  • Career guidance
  • Fellowship and graduate programs
  • The network of alumni
